I'm Not Him

There were days she truly confused him.
The beautiful black she-cat had, upon first arriving in the tunnels, talked to herself constantly. It had been so long since his first days in the labyrinth that he'd forgotten what it was like to be disoriented and to try and find sanity in his own voice. These days, however, she said next to nothing, and he found himself missing her voice more and more.
She cursed when she did speak. Sometimes he found it amusing, that the elegance with which she carried herself could be broken for a more feisty and dark demeanor. When she spoke, it was most warmly about a cat named Lionblaze, and one that had walked beside him seasons ago, Jayfeather. Her darker tones were reserved for cats by the names of Squirrelflight and Leafpool.
Then there was the last name she spoke so solemnly he knew it had to be important.
She mentioned a tom called Sol.
The more she spoke about him, the more he disliked him. This tom had once been very close to his beautiful and oblivious companion, but had somehow lost her affection through deeds that were probably too terrible for her to mention.
He found himself growing protective of her.
He knew she could not see her, but he felt a kinship with her. She was just as lost as he was, only in a different way. Many times he'd brush up against her as she walked, trying to convey some bit of warmth towards her, just to comfort her. She noticed, and stared in what she though to just be darkness for a long moment before continuing on her way.
Then there were the days she lay beneath an opening high above in the roof of the cave, where moonlight filtered through. She stared up at the light, and he lay next to her, watching her, hearing her cry about the cats who had ruined her life.
And the cat she'd loved.
The one named Sol.
He prayed she would notice him. Just once.
But of course she didn't.
Still he vowed, he would take care of her.
Somehow, he'd be there for her.

In my world, Hollyleaf loved Sol. Fallen Leaves loved Hollyleaf. Hollyleaf didn't know he existed.

Apparently in the ebook that's coming out about Hollyleaf, it'll talk about her time in the tunnels and she'll be able to see Fallen Leaves. I don't like reality. So I substituted it with my own.
